Thanks for the info...I don't need to crash any mirrors (the 5D is due for mirror fix on Canon's recall).
Off topic: How do you like your Rokinon 85mm f1.4? Focussing must be a real "itch"; are you using LiveView or a focus-confirm chip?
Regards,
Edd
The Rokinon 85/1.4 is a price/performance champ. I've had a few different lenses of ~85mm and the Rokinon is probably 90-95% of the IQ of the best, but at a fraction of the price. Focusing is OK, but, yes, LiveView gives the best results.
just adaptor is all you need
depending on the flavor of the 50mm, you might have to shave the mirror slightly
i shaved mine to accomodate many alt. lenses.
Just try it once - it won't kill the mirror outright. Maybe you can have it in MLU mode, so that you can divide the motions. I am not sure which 50mm are actually going to obstruct the mirror, but i know all of them are close.

I just went through this entire thread and my immediate comment is: "More, please!"
If Bifurcator is still around, how do the Taks handle and balance on your m43 gear? Are you using it only with a GH1 or do you have a smaller camera also (EPL2, GF2, etc)?
I finally received my new to me Super Tak 50/1.4 and I can hardly wait to use it.
I see there are a few different versions of it and mine turns out to be the early version.
What has my interest is this quote: The first version of the Super Takumar 50mm f/1.4 had 8 lens elements. Notice the cemented triplet with curved surfaces - very difficult and expensive to manufacture and it's said Asahi lost money on every copy sold; hence it didn't last very long. This was meant as a Planar-killer and once its crown had been awarded by the press the simplified 7/6 version was quietly ushered in (before the 8/6 crippled Asahi's finances). This 8 element variant can be identified on the location of the infrared focus mark: The mark is to the right of the numeral 4 on the DOF scale....Show more →
