Man, I sure disagree with that. I frequent 7 other photography sites and all but one SUCK compared to this place! Seriously! And by "suck" I mean the VAST majority of images posted there are poor to very poor in terms of technical merit, subject, artistic creativity, and etc. This is followed by the majority of active posters on those sites being nit-witts to a great extent. No, I just can't agree that other forums are typically the same as FM. There are a few other good ones and there are some nice collections out there but they're fairly rare. The overwhelming majority of them are people who are just learning how to place an image on-line but do not know how to use their cameras yet and haven't even begun to consider what looks good nor how they might go about accomplishing a look that's interesting, intriguing, or conjurers emotion in/to others. These things are true even holding the subjective nature of photography in primary regard. FM is exceptional!...Show more →
The point I was making is that the concept of being interesting is subjective and that any collection of photos anywhere can be considered uninteresting.

Manual focus = fun
I agree! Something about hitting the AF button that removes a lot of the interest from taking pictures anymore.

I really like shooting with alternative lenses, not only it helps me to save some money, but I like the feeling of giving another life to an old lens. I have only one Oly lens, it is 21mm/f3.5 and I am very happy with it. I am quite surprised how this lens can hold the ground to the modern lenses. The two images below are taken with 21mm f3.5 on my old Canon 20D. I know that body upgrade is long overdue, but I shoot with what I've got.
I wonder what he means by: "there is the fungus marks/any scratches on the glass and it will not affect picture quality." Maybe $650 is too much for a lens with fungus marks and scratches... no? Neat-o about the rack-n-pinion focusing tho.
There is no fungus,no haze on the glass.focus ring/aperture ring works fine.there is the fungus marks/any scratches on the glass and it will not affect picture quality.
What I get from this is that there is no fungus & no haze on the glass, but if there was any fungus marks/any scratches on the glass, it will not affect picture quality.
If interested it's best to contact the seller before bidding for clarification.
Read his other auctions. What he's saying (I think) is that it did indeed at one time have fungus. It damaged at least the coating if not the glass. After cleaning there is no more fungus but the damage (marks) remain there still. Also he is saying that there are scratches on the glass but neither they nor the fungus marks can be noticed in the photos.
Such is the case with most scratches and fungal damage - especially on a lens that has a long-ish MFD . If it hasn't SEVERELY damaged the glass you can almost not tell they're there at all. However, and here's my point, it still reduces the resale value of the lens dramatically. What would normally be a $650 lens should sell for about $75 to $100 before cleaning and $200 tops after cleaning. If there are visible scratches (affects photos or not) of any kind you can cut those prices in half.
