Great! I'm just past the family of angles and the diffuse, reflective and polorized surfaces. Very enlightening read so far. Can't wait to put it onto practice. You, obviously have!
Nice. I'm currently reading the chapter on Metal. It discusses in great detail how the Family of Angles work, and how to find them based on your camera placement and subject. This book is definitely indispensable!
Thank you for the compliments! I guess in today's creative world, rendering a photo to almost look like CGI is a compliment, haha. However, all of the elements in this photo are real. I took my time lighting (and sculpting the light) to pull all of the shapes and textures out of the glasses and liquid.
I studied cinematography lighting in school, and have been studying photographic lighting at home for some time now. My current reference guide is the book LIGHT: Science & Magic, by Fil Hunter. It's a wonderful exploration of light characteristics, their relationship with the camera and virtual space, as well as light's reaction to, and influence on every surface imaginable.
It was recommended to me by a member of the forum, and I've since shared it with Greg. I'd recommend it to anyone interested in enhancing their studio work!
