The young son always works to earn the respect of his father.
One day his training and quick thinking will bring him to the brink of victory.
There is only one dignified response....surrender.

I like the concept, though the crop seems a bit heavy. There are three graphic planes here: white, tan and black, and all seem to be competing for attention, though the eye, which is the relief and focal point, seems trapped.
I do like the weighted bottom, but the eye might benefit from an off-center positioning (flank right should do).
Thanks for the feedback! I appreciate the comments and the ideas. I will think it over and see what I can do to improve.

Cool shot. I'm a fan of dramatic and unusual cropping. It can make a common object or subject more intriguing as you figure out the shapes and color, seeing the object in a different way. In this case the tight crop serves to keep the eye very visible at 640 pixels. It's truly a matter of taste; go with your gut. :-)
Thank for the kind thoughts. I'm taking your advice and going with my gut.....but with a different image!

This is much better than the previous one. You thought long and hard before pressing the shutter button, and it shows. It's easily my favorite thus far.
