Are any of the other new Sigma lenses available anywhere? It seems odd that that the lens is available to purchase at Adorama, but is not displayed on the SigmaUSA site...unless I am not seeing it. I was hoping that these new lenses would be reasonably priced. The price seems a bit steep for a third party, unless of course Sigma has really produced something special. I am looking forward to reviews of their new 17-50, 70-200 and of course the 50-500.

It's on Sigma's website, just not the normal sections. There is a small line that flashes up press releases somewhere in the middle of the site, and the complete 5 lens 3 camera press release is in that mix.
Sigma USA is notoriously slow about updating their website, anyways. Sometime lenses will be available for months before they make it onto the website.
I had seen the press release on the website, but as you said, there is no listing in the "normal" places...which makes no sense. If I owned a company and my company just announced 5 new products, I would want them listed on the website. There is obviously interest in the lenses and if a potential buyer wants to find information, they have to go digging around the internet to find a link to a blog...not good business! Those new lenses should be featured on Sigma's site with all sorts of samples.

So, these have been available for a few weeks now... any reviews? I'm wanting to know if it's sharp wide open... I just sold a 150-500mm because I didn't like having to stop down @ 500mm.
The 100% jpgs of the other two shots are in the same inbox - at 100% you can see there's about a pixel of motion blur, but you can still read the labels on the black cord. Impressive performance.
Its got a pixel of purple CA on black/white transitions but that's not an issue. I'll try to get some real world shots when it stops raining. ...Show more →

Looks nice. Was wondering about the lens.
Couple questions. Does it have a focus limit switch? Also, is this a EX lens?
From any images I've seen it does not look like it has a limiter
Also its not designated EX as I think they have chosen to make only constant AP lenses EX. But then whats in 2 little letters

P.S. Recently watched a few of your videos comparing telephoto lens sizes ... plus your "lens reliability" data is quite interesting - great job!
Would it be possible for you to put a link to those videos, they sound interesting. Thanks for any help....
Pardon me, I had meant the question to be addressed to "Alek Komarnits", who had mentioned some videos of yours, (I think), that he'd enjoyed.
He'd posted- "P.S. Recently watched a few of your videos comparing telephoto lens sizes .." earlier in this thread.
Sorry for any confusion. I"m in the pondering trading my Sigma 150-500 for the new 50-500 so I'm trying to gather any pertinent info I can about their comparative strengths and weaknesses.
Also, why was this made available so far ahead of the other 4 lenses?
probably cos they think thats the one they will sell in quantity now. they may even fear a 100-400 mk2 and or a nikon 80-400 mk2 as that would stop alot of potential buyers. get the thing out now and sell while they can.
