Is there price drop on lenses

Possibly. Either a price drop after the initial demand is met or look for a slightly used one.

If the new TC-20E-3 is as good as what we hear, I will probably buy one. I'll sell my current TC-17E. The TC-20 on my 70-200mm f2.8 would give me a 400mm f5.6 with VR, which should be quite useable for wildlife shots. I could then sell my 80-400mm VR. Net result would be having less money tied up in lens I don't use regularly, getting more use out of one of my workhorse lenses, and having less stuff to carry around. In summer I am paid to photo local baseball games, often at night. For that, the performance of the 70-200mm f2.8 AFS plus strong AF of the D300 is tough to match. On the few ball diamonds/football fields that aren't lit well enough for f2.8, I simply start adding X3200 monolights (1,320ws each) until I get the light levels I want. Problem solved.

Too little, Too late, TOO much! I just bought the D3s which I routinely shoot @ ISO 12800. I already have 24/35/50/70 etc on my F2.8 24-70 zoom and the DOF that comes with it. I like F2.8 DOF on wide lenses but use faster shallow DOF for medium and teles.

I have both the AIS 35mm F1.4 and 24/28 F2.0. If I need the speed (I do mostly dim available light work). But I don't need F2.0 and F1.4 with ISO 6400/12800. Conclusion: Put your money into a FF D700/D3 or D3s and add an, effective, stop (or two) to all your lenses.

MTFs make it look good in the center, but those corners might be cause for concern. Guess it all depends on how it sharpens up after F8.

That is my concern. It needs to be sharper in the corners stopped down and less CA than my 17-35. The center looks great.
