Church, maternity shoot, FedEx Office to finish up the flyers for next weekends bridal fair, watched a bunch of pretty good commercials that kept getting interrupted by a football game, and took care of my fiance, who is fighting a really bad head cold this weekend.
Sent my new (to me) 1Dmk III off to CPS for the focus fix. Sent my old 5D off to it's new owner. Looked at some investment property that we're thinking of buying. Went to the neighbors for a chile cook-off and Super Bowl party (my wife tied for first place with her dish), had a great time with the neighbors watching the Saints win. Replayed some of my favorite commercials when we got home.
Kurtis, the Lens Align seems really useful, but it is almost begging for a print and paste template, no? Seems like there should be a DIY solution out there. I just glanced at it on Amazon, so I could be missing something significant.

Thing is, the Lens Align IS a DIY thing. Some random guy came up with it then took it commercial.
You'd have to be very accurate if you do it yourself or you'll just miscalibrate every lens you own.
Money well spent IMO. It's a very nicely put together product.
Realized I was running way behind from doing the first two items and mopped the kitchen and prepped some appetizers in advance of hosting thirty five friends for our annual super bowl party.
Business wise, this is the "calm before the storm" for me. Starting in March things get crazy for me (18 weddings in 4 months). I'm just relaxing and enjoying my time off right now. I spent a good deal of time in January revising the website and laying the groundwork for my 2010 advertising so there isn't a whole lot left for me to do in that area.

Kurtis, how much of an improvement did you see in your images after you used Lens Align?
I just calibrated them yesterday, so I haven't done any real world shooting with them, but I expect them to be dead-on now whereas some before were obviously not quite right (the 24-70 mainly).
I don't have a scheduled shoot until the 23rd that I might use that lens on, so we'll see.
Doubt it, but it does exactly what it's designed to do... If my lenses were front/back-focusing, and now they're not, that's definitely going to be noticeable.
For example, I often had to shoot multiple times to make sure eyes are in focus etc. because some lenses were just a little off. Now it should be better.
i dug my car out of 2 feet of snow with a dust pan, made guacamole with my girlfriend, watched football with some friends, had a few beers, and went to sleep. good semi-lazy sunday.
I calibrated my 1DIV to my 5 lenses while realizing I need clients to justify the camera! I used my homemade lens alignment tool from Home Depot which cost me $11. Real world testing with the kids and repeated calibration attempts confirm, everything's good.
I made chili and played hostess to my son and some of his teenage friends who came over to play Modern Warfare 2. I think I'm going to let them take over the loft while I go downstairs to edit a portrait session and the 5th/6th grade basketball and cheer pics. I need the peace and quiet!
