Yes - 23. I just double-checked it. Are you also using the SanDisk Extreme Pro 16gb?
I can't imagine the camera's buffer "knowing" what kind of card you are using. The buffer count is based on the camera's internal memory, not the card in the slot. Check your file settings. Is it Raw or Raw + Jpeg? That should make a difference.
You are correct, of course. I was thinking about the time to dump the buffer to disk. The size of the buffer shouldn't change. I double-checked my settings - RAW only. Dunno.
To answer my own question - a 64GB Extreme Pro card in a 1D4, at High: 44 frames, 7.5s to clear. At Low speed, 102 frames, 7.5s to clear. Raw shots at ISO 100.

Wow, thanks for the follow up Stan - those numbers are impressive. I wonder why you're getting 44 frames vs. Dan O'Leary only getting 29 before hitting the buffer...? Both were Extreme Pro cards, just different capacity. That shouldn't make such a difference I would think...

That is correct, all this fancy fast cards do good is quick transfer to the card from buffer. Buffer is same in any mk IV (I wish that I could increase) . Also allow quick transfer to the computer if UDMA reader been used. I got couple Sandisk 16G UDMA 60mb/sec, seem very quick. Shooting just RAW.

Ron
I checked and the reason was that the camera was set to 4fps slow, 7fps fast (not my camera). So, there you have it.
