The league is what it is, the girls are not forced to play in it. If a bunch of guys want to watch girls who are more then willing to run around in what they are wearing, good for both parties
I hate strip clubs as well but I like pretty woman especially athletic woman.

+1 to this, and I'm sure no one is forced to do this. I just find it a bit sad that were these girls in regular football gear no one would look twice. Kinda like beach vollyball guys wear shorts and that's Ok but I believe the rule is that the wemen have to wear swim wear? (not shorts) could be wrong. I shoot lots of youth sports & I have to say I enjoy the girls rugby quite a bit, they are athletic and play with intensity rivaling any of the young men but are taken less seriously more often than not...
Yes I know that lot's of girls work @ Hooters, are strippers, and play lingerie football by their own choice, and actually like it, and that is Ok to each his/her own....

I can't imagine how much it costs to rent out the Coliseum for this silly game/league? And when you only have a couple hundred horny guys in the stands, I hope they sell a lot of beer.
I was thinking the same thing, last time they did it in the sport arena which was perfect, crowd was placed 360. I got better results then this time, cause of the controlled environment.

I just don't get it. At all. Never been to Hooters. Have no desire to go. Never been to a strip club. Have no desire to go.

Sorry this upsets you, but all in all I understand some people don't like it, but this is not the place to express you feeling on the sport and why it is wrong and so forth. If you do not like what you see just don't post anything at all. Now if you want to comment on the shots to better me next time, go for it.

I didnt really intend to start a flame war
I think a sport forum is a good place to discuss sport in general using photos to illustrate it imho, we're hopefully not just shutterbugs but have an interest in the genre itself right ?

IMO, it's a rather big stretch to call this a "sport". Sort of like calling mud wrestling a "sport"! Oh sure, mud wrestlers work hard, train more than we (care to) know, make it look easy, have to clean out all that mud when they're done...blah, blah, blah. Those things don't make it a sport. Not sure what it is, but it's probably more along the lines of the strip club-type entertainment.
What I find interesting about this thread is that Chris actually did comment on the shots and I would agree with every one of his suggestions; there might be one image that works as a decent sports photo. However, it seems that with all but two of the eight comments Chris made, the response by the OP was to make excuses about why the shots aren't that great.
IMO, whether one considers this a sport or not doesn't really matter, it is events/shoots like this where pros really shine and show what they're made of. It doesn't matter there were no fans in the stands...that media access was limited...the player with the ball had her back to us...the team didn't pose perfectly for a post-game photo...etc. Those are excuses. A good photographer will make images from an event like this that are compelling and worth looking at, even for those who might not care for the event itself.
These images don't do that for me. A buddy of mine shot one of these teams a few months back and had the images on his sportsshooter page for a while. The images are no longer on his page, but they were very good images and--hold on to your hats--really didn't show much of the actual "action" but gave us a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the event and those involved.
Like Chris said, maybe his comments along with mine will help make these kinds of images better in the future.

No flame war man, I have an open understanding as to how someone could see it as not right. I agree with you on the having interest in the genre.

Okay, i see where you are coming from, but I did not state I was a pro, I did give it my best and next time I will take everything into consideration. I don't know if you had seen the shots from the game I shot prior to this. But here is the gallery from that game: Prior LFL game.
As for excuse making, I was just telling it as it was, not trying beat around the bush, yes you make the best out of what you are given to work with. Sorry if my best does not meet your expectations. I was actually agreeing with chris on his critique on how to make the shots better next time. At least chris pointed out what to fix next time I have the chance to shoot it again unlike others how just simply talked trash about the game and how it should not even be played.......... there are a lot of things in this world that should not be played, aired on tv or broadcasted over the radio and so forth. Not trying to ague.

Woops, I must have misunderstood the "media" comments in your earlier post. Twice you mentioned limited media access, and once you referred to the media taking the team photos. I assumed--since those media references were in your replies to Chris' specific comments--that you were part of the media. That's why I made the reference to pro shooters getting great shots at not-so-great events. If you're not a pro or not actually part of the media, there's nothing wrong with that. Either way, I have no expectations you or anyone else needs to meet when posting here. If you think this is your best work, then it's your best work.
p.2 #11 · Lingerie football league LA vs. SD. SHUT OU!!
So how do you get "media access?, I would like to see what you get from the next game. Really that was not intended to sound perverted but if you shoot another game post a few. I will say some of the shots on your link are much better than the ones you posted. All that said I do not think I could do better my first time out. I shoot surfing and when I go through slides from ten years ago I really see how much I have learned over the years.

Ya know, folks, this does serve to present an interesting question, a sort of useful mental exercise: what DOES make for what YOU call a good sports photo? Can good sports photos be had from something you don't usually consider a sport? I think yes, yes they can. A sports photo to me is a depiction of:
1. Physical effort and exertion
2. Anticipation or reaction to a competitive outcome- versus others, versus a clock or other benchmark, or versus oneself
3. Emotion and contention- visible in hands, arms, legs, and most especially the eyes
4. Immediate juxtaposition of victory and defeat, or success and failure.
Can this occur in more ways than you usually look for it? Absolutely! A dog jumping up to catch a frisbee, a weight lifter midway through a squat, a ping pong player pounding their paddle into the table immediately as a ball bounces off their side of the net back at them, and so on. There's lots of sports I can think of that various other people not to think much of as sports, or even that I personally don't: badminton, bowling, curling, competitive shooting, auto racing, paintball, skateboarding, martial arts, and dance competition, to name a few. Yet in some way the basic elements of sports are found therein. Even life by itself in some instances emulates sports, as life is often competitive with elements of suspense and triumph, which can be depicted in the same way and looked at in the same way as sports. I'd even say you could get a shot of two bats chasing the same flying bug and have that as a sports shot. I forget who used the phrase as an ad slogan but it's true: sport happens.

Maybe it is a sport and maybe it's not but in the People forum a poster will usually add a NSFW tag in the subject line for shots like these. Really do not think NSFW shots belong in a Sports forum but maybe more in the People forum? They should be playing this in arena somewhere during halftime of a strip club act But then I don't consider cheerleading or dance a sport either, they are competitions IMO but that's just me

You guys are too damn funny, not gonna comment on anything else. NSFW WTF? It is not like the is nudity or anything in the thread. And everyone on here should be over 18 anyways. Sorry next time I will add the title: NFPE: NOT FOR PRUDE EYES!

I don't doubt these women train hard and have real athletic skill, but come on. Why not just have them be nude while shooting marbles. Not only are the "uniforms" silly, but if they are relly playing football, they lack the protection that a uniform needs to provide. I wonder how many staph infections they will get from the turf.
