Well put. The one time I had the chance and the need to use an 85/1.4, it was so bloody dark in the venue that I was at ISO 3200, f/1.4, and still getting only 1/60 speeds. Didn't want to push the ISO too much more, wasn't allowed to use flash, and f/2.8 or smaller was definitely not an option.

If you are young and have good eyes, check out the Samyang/Bower/Rokinon 85 f1.4. This lens has had the ALT forum lit up for a while. I've been using it on my D700, and I find the focus indicator (little green dot) is quite accurate with this lens. It also meters properly with the D700.

Thanks for the reply everyone. As an update I ended up getting something else the Korean 85mm 1.4. The flavor that I got is by rokinon from overstock.com. At first I didn't want this because it was mf. But I am going to give it a try it was a lot cheaper than the nikon and it had many great reviews on it.

I think optically they are all the same. I am really happy with my cheap, Korean one. I would like AF but for my specific use for this lens it hasnt been a dealbreaker, especially for 1/4th the cost of one with AF.
Its also generally not poorly built. Nothing loose on the lens. My only gripe is the hood, its junk. Comes off way to easily.
