Rick, sometimes, like you, I indeed go out with just one lens. I tend to do that with a lens that I might have neglected for a while, to get re-acquainted with what it can do. Going out with just the 21 is an experience. Because, on the one hand, it is hard to take minimalist pictures with it , and also because it has so much DOF that it transforms my 5DMkII into a quasi-P&S...
Adam, I am SOOOOO glad that you don't enjoy my pictures. Please push the "hide me" button so that they are no longer inflicted on you... ...Show more →
I thought I wrote you into my list, the first time I must have, but the bottom part didn't get copied while I was rewriting the names, don't feel left out you were originally on the list of people who should pay me compensation.
Your 21 Distagon shot gave me quite the headache. The one with the pillars, amazing! So amazing that you can almost feel the cold rough texture of weathered stone (specifically the one with two pillars in the shot, although not limited to)... Anyway the headache was, I wanted to get a wide lens to match the makro, but the wide lens was suppose to be a 28 or a 35 (50 I want but cant afford right now, nor could I decide between the makro and non). But I know I'll need a good wide, but more of a fashion wide then a landscape wide.... So it was the 28 or the 35... Then I seen snowboarders 21 shots and was like WOW... And to drive it home seeing how much life your pillar shots have, I'm now really loving the 21.... So here's where the headache kicks in, I'm trying to figure out what to sell to buy a 35 and a 21... Honestly though, for the life of me I can't stretch my budget to accommodate both.
I guess with that said, without hijacking the OPs thread, I'd love someone to convince me why I should choose one over the other, and the contenders are 28, 35 (keep in mind I think the 21 is amazing but to wide and would make a good 3rd or 4th lens in the series)... now I know it's personal preference because they are different beasts, but keep in mind I'm I can only chose one... So GO!
BTW, I use to have the 35L, and found it to be softish wide open, although I loved the FL, I now have the 28 1.8, it's also soft wide open, but got it because after selling the 35mm I picked up a 16-35L and have a 24-70L so the 28 1.8 was really just a good light walk around lens. Oh and at the time I wanted something slightly wider then 35... But now, I'm easy on FL as they're both friendly with me.
And to contribute in productive manor, tomorrow or sometime this week I will post some shots from the 100 makro (I have to go out and shoot with it first though)...
Take care guys,
Adam
