The 2/35's getting a bit of a workout at the moment. Great for colour, but in these busy markets with lots of colour distractions it's great for B&W too - I love the skin tones and microcontrast you get.
Phil, last one is awesome again! The 3d looks amazing, can you upload one in colour . I just got my 35/2 today and went to the city with my friend to take pics, shes a little culprit haha . First of all this lens is a lot smaller than what I had expected and I'm finding it much harder to focus compared to the 50 MP. The bokeh is much nicer than what I had expected although I would expect some situations where it may look busy. I read this lens is highly regarded to its 3D feel and I do see it but I haven't had enough time to properly get the feel of the lens. All pics taken wide open
Phil, you make me want to take the 2/35 out right away. What is almost most impressive is the natural look of the photos combined with the 3D-ness. do you use CNX?
I was surprised while looking through some of my favourite street shots just how many were with the 2/35. Probably around 40%. Pointing to a M + 35 'chron future? I wish!
I'm now in my comfort zone with the Distagon and loving it for street portraiture and environmental portraits. The micro contrast really helps with converting to B&W as well. I love my telephoto prime (85mm f1.4D which I can never see myself letting go of) for street candids as well - it's a shame it's so close in FL to the 100 MP, otherwise I'd snap one up
I agree, the 2/35 is excellent when converting to b/w, much like the 1.4/50. I'm excited to hear you've noticed the same. When keeping the colours I think they have some sort of colour-cast that can be fantastic, but sometimes is unwanted.
And perhaps an M (film) + 35 (ZM) is in my future as well. That would be awesome.
It's been awhile since I've posted to the thread. My wife and I spent a week in Curacao, and got to see a fair bit of the island during our trip.
These photos are from one stop on a dune buggy tour of the eastern side of the island. My Dutch and our tour guide's English were both pretty shaky but I gathered that this is an informal place where the island's residents come to hang out on weekends for windsurfing, kite surfing, and bike/car racing at a nearby track. Interestingly, it's a huge swath of land under private ownership that anybody can visit free of charge, as it was explained to me.
All were shot with the ZM25/2.8 on a Ricoh GXR with a polarizing filter. Processed with LR4.
Phil - Great portraits!
rirakum - Congrats on your 2/35 #3, 4 are my favs
Rodulvan - Great capture of the light and canyon like manmade landscape. Love the lamps catching sun light.
uscmatt - Very nice. Clean, and coral enducing. Makes me want to have a beer. Somehow, I really like the 'relax' message.
dubaiphil: Amazing b&w shots with the 35/2.
uscmatt: gotta agree with akul, love the sit back and chill vibe going on.
akul: great composition on those buildings! Also like the brick wall; I'm assuming you corrected the distortion of the 21? Any chance you'd be willing to post the same shot without the distortion corrected? I've been looking into getting a wide lens (between 18-25) and want to see how bad the distortion really is.
