I don't know which is which, but the second is soooo much better. I suppose it's the Zeiss because of the busier background though.

It's been a long time since I posted in this thread, but now I've got the best of reasons. I bought a beater D700 and a new ZF.2 35/1.4!
Martin,
I almost didn't get the 1.4/35 because people said it was soft. Do glad I did. Quite sharp and drops to a beautiful smooth bokeh except in harsh lighting. It has it's share of CA in backlit situations, but that is not much of what I shoot, so I couldn't be much happier.
Z- Thanks !
Alan- Brilliant. Second shot has amazing sense of space and distance. Great shot.
Martynas - I assume Z stands for Zeiss, regardless, I am with Marin, I like the second shot with stronger contrast. It feels like it has more definition.
Martin- Great to see your work back here again. It sounds like you sold your D700 and made a circle back ? And what is that little gem next to it, OMD eh? It looks like it is similar to the original OM1 size. Still wonder why FX digital needs to be as big as they are. Anyhow, great shots with 1.4/35, I like the #4 especially, but not exclusively. I love that lens. What I have experienced is that it is harder to get crisp result with higher contrast scene, like sunny day wide open, but that is common to many 1.4 lens I suppose.
Another 'incidental' street, I admit this one is a bit more premeditated.
ZF.2 2/100
Makten, what made you buy the D700 again? I remeber your work a while ago with D700 and 35 2.0..
Luka, the bike shot is excellent...keep those SP shots coming
Martynas, I think the C looks better
Z, very nice! you seem to love shadows

Same for me; I was about to buy the Samyang instead but wasn't really impressed with the photos I saw from it. Most people seem to use fast lenses for closeups, while I don't, and when I saw some of Samulis shots with the Zeiss at a couple of meters distance, I knew right away it was the one to get.

Thanks! Yes, it's the OM-D with Panasonic 25/1.4, a truly great lens that I thought was a bit big, but it gets completely dwarfed by the D700 and 35/1.4. The OM-D is quite a bit smaller than the OM-1 actually and FF doesn't have to be big. It's the manufacturers that have decided that "pros" use large cameras.

I hated the weight and at that time I started looking for something smaller, and since then I've had two M8, the X100, the NEX-5N and now the OM-D which feels "right". But I missed the FF look so I decided to sell my M lenses and get an old D700 for special occasions.
^ I'm glad everything went bad for you Makten ...because now we have you back.
But the place has changed a bit since you were last here ...full of bloody street photographers now.
...and I think Martynas is having a go at those of us that are Right-eyed.

Ah well, let's change it back then!

Welcome back Makten! Another fellow 35/1.4 owner How do you like the lens so far?
How do I like it? I freakin' love it! Except for the size (zeiss?) of course. Out of the five Zeiss lenses I've had so far, I think this is the nicest one optically.
Thanks for the comments on my pictures.
Concerning PP on my pictures so have I playing with the tone curve and saturation, and Vibrance and have and a split toning with and sometimes I use Color Efex Pro to
Nice picture Z :-)

Gary - Really nice PP. You extracted quite a bit of detail from D700 file. I keep going back to the second shot. There is something about the picture that draws me in.
Jochen- Nice !
Makten - Saddle shot is really nice. Love the detail of wear and tear.
Ronny - Great color and texture from the flower shots. Perfect focusing point !
