I want to add a ZF short Tele. Any thoughts on the 85/1.4 vs the 100/2? Don’t do much macro work, but I do love the 50/2 MP for a normal that gets close too. On the other hand, I don’t do much portrait work either. Basically just need something for a little extra reach.

If you don't need the speed I would buy the 100.
You get a bit of extra reach and the 1:2 as a bonus.

The 85 doesn't quite get close enough for what I would consider macro. The pink flower I just posted was minimum focus distance and the image is uncropped, as a reference for what you could expect

I had the ZE 85/1.4, and while the IQ was great, it did suffer from some focus shift, so let it go & stuck with a Contax 85/1.4. However, it might not be an issue using the ZF as I believe the aperture can be preset....? (Maybe only the ZF.1 version??)
That being said, you honestly can't go wrong with the 100/2 MP. I put off acquiring it as I already had the CV 125/2.5 APO, but there were some massive discounts a few years back on the ZE lenses so I grabbed one and it is fantastic. I have since switched to Sony, but it is among the few EF mount lenses that won't be going anywhere anytime soon. (Along with the aforementioned CV125, as well as the ZE 25/2 & 50/2 MP)

I use the 1.4s with the Metabones 4. It allows stop-down focus.
I use them on a Sony, I prefer the manual aperture ring over the EXIF of the ZE versions, though I also have a Vello F Smart Adapter if I want EXIF off of ZF.2 lenses. Right now I only have ZF 25/2.8 and 50/2 though so doesn’t matter. I want to add a 35/2 and I guess a 100/2, and may swap the 25/2.8 out for a 25/2.

Good to know.... Although I'm not sure what system the member with the query is shooting on?
When I tried the ZE 85/1.4 I was still shooting Canon, and mirrorless cameras were just a glint in everyone's eyes
Don't disagree there are benefits, just that I like a real aperture ring over most all of that. Being primes, I don't mind setting IBIS FL, don't use focus magnifyand get stopped down focusing as well. So basically need to set IBIS FL, and set lens correction if needed. To be, I like an aperture ring for that, plus with the ZF's it's all mechanical, nothing to fail.

ZE on Sony =

Auto-IBIS
Auto LR correction
Focus direction = Sony
1/2 shutter release from focus assist with MC-11
Stop-down focus with Metabones.

If it all works out, I think you'll be happy... The ZE/ZF 25/2, 50/2 and 100/2 makes for an excellent walk-around kit on any system IMO, as it covers a wide focal range, has excellent macro/close up abilities, and all have 67mm filters which is a bonus. You can't go wrong with the 35/2 either.

The all-mechanical design of the ZFs is certainly an advantage from a service and future-proof standpoint.
I actually prefer to able to change my dof with a thumb control.
In my hands an advantage with a MF lens.
I also figured that I might add a Canon body one day.

With the exception of the 18 Classic I think they are all great.
