Great work, TWok. I think you could make images from a pinhole camera look like they were taken with a D3x and a 14-24, but just out of curiosity, what camera were those taken with? #3 is my favorite, and I LOVE the grain in that photo. Great stuff.

Thanks, #3 was taken with my D700 and the 105/1.8 AIS.
I could never do what I've been doing of late with a DX camera. It just wouldn't be possible. The higher ISO ability and wide angle view that FX provides is indispensable. Sometimes it's not NAS and is actually a true need. Not always, but sometimes.

Well, I have a D2h that I will keep forever, so that satisfies the need for the reach of a crop camera (at least in decent light that doesn't require bumping the ISO up too much). So the D700 seems like an ideal addition, especially since I'm not too invested in DX glass. The only DX lens I have is the 18-70mm kit lens that came with my D70. BTW, you're NOT helping my NAS by providing rationalization for why I might NEED a D700.
You could get the same results with something like the 10-24m, etc, but I think it makes more sense to pick up a used D700 than a bunch of DX UWA zooms.
Here are some film shots and yes, I know they are grainy, but I'm okay with that. From Thailand:
