CAREFUL!!!! Don't leave the car door open and expose your camera to dangerous elements like that! Just think of what could get in there.... humidity, dust, maybe some ladybugs? It gives me chills
I didn't publish any pictures of my rental car, but let's say it was ... modified. It may not have been the most glorious moment in photography, but I preferred staying inside the car, with my gear.
I tried doing a thread like this a while back and it wasn't very successful. What I notice about each of these is that when the camera is exposed to extreme weather, the photos it takes then are amazing!
I was in Croatia in Sept/Oct last year. I only got to spend a day in Plitvice NP with limited kit. It's certainly a place that deserves more time and an arsenal of gear.
Would love to see any shots if you have a set or a gallery of the place.
Cheers Stan.

I know that stone feature Stan posted has some real name like Devil's Tower or something, but it'll always be the big stumpy thing to me.
Yep, Devil's Tower in Wyoming ... here's another picture of it, but not quite as spectacular as Stan's.

GREAT idea for a thread by the way! Wish I had some shots OF my gear to contribute...
I wonder if a fellow photog got a shot of me walking through some woods with snow covering my 1d3 and 300 2.8.. hmm.. because that's the only one I'd have "outside."

stanj, what kind of levelling plate is that below the RRS head? how are your experiences with it?
It's a (now discontinued) Bogen/Manfrotto plate. It's HEAVY but it's the only thing out there that works. It has three screws which you twist and it ever so slightly levels the base. There's absolutely no creep. It was about $60 back then, and while I use it only when weight isn't an issue at all, it's amazing.
Yes, I was wrong - it's the 8360, not 8361. The ones ending in "1" are 4-segment, those ending with "0" are 3-segment. Those starting with "8" are CF, those starting with "9" are aluminum.

It's unlikely that you'll ever see one from me I was thrilled to go there again (after 30 years ), and I had planned a 2.5-day stay there. It's absolutely wonderful - but it was a photographic nightmare. Pretty much all of the spectacular shots that you see from there are from the helicopter in the spring time, when there's a lot of water. The lakes are oriented in a S->N direction, so no matter what you shoot, you're pretty much always shooting into the sun. Avoiding the people and the shaking of the walkways was the least of my problems - getting an interesting composition without the sun in it, or at least insanely harsh contrast, was a pain. This is pretty much the only picture from the whole trip that I care about. I have never before been to a place which I have found so difficult to do justice to... http://kids.jirman.com/2009-09-Europe/Plitvice/0027-b.jpg
