A co-worker brought her newborn to work and without any prep I snapped off this candid. Very sloppy execution but she is very self conscious and won't "let" me take a photo with both her and the baby. She is a friend and I know she won't mind me posting this.

I'll keep trying to get a new attempt with better lighting and set-up

I used a large aperture to get that narrow DoF. But I had lots of PP work to minimize background distractions and really bad lighting. The "dreamy" feel is a simple softening filter I applied.

Will try my sales pitch to my friend tomorrow. "If you like this photo, wouldn't you love a re-shoot in a more controlled environment!"

Thanks to everyone for the C&C.

I was able to convince her to let me photo her and her baby under better/controlled circumstances--but not within the WA time frame.
