As shot for me Ken, maybe a touch more canvas above

I wanted to present #1 strictly as shot out of the camera. But, when I get to post processing that shot, I will add canvas to the top and left side.

Nice capture Ken,
But can you flip horizontal so he's going up hill, clone out the little branch by his front paw add blue sky and clone in a running Coot?
I voted for the second one, but I can see it either way. The diagonal makes it a little more dynamic. Contrast and color look better on the first one. A fine image either way though.

When I clone in the Coot, I'll have to make sure that I get the whole coot in there this time.

I'm going to go with as shot as well. There are many times I find I have to make two versions of a shot.
This is one of these occasions for you. And I actually like them both. But I also fine I like trying to stay true to nature.... or to what environment the subject was photographed in.
Nice seeing you again yesterday.

I guess the inhabitants of this forum is much more forgiving then in some others that are always harping on crooked horizon lines.

I like the second one better. When I looked at the first one, my eyes were drawn
to the cat's rear end that is very close to the frame. If the cat had an eye contact with you, it would've been different. I feel more comfortable in viewing the second image. Nonetheless, you had a great encounter with a Bobcat and you didn't miss the opportunity to capture it.

The original is quite tight in the frame. But, I had to try to capture what I had or try to reposition and loose the opportunity as it was on the move. Sadly, he didn't look my way during this stretch of opportunity.

Ken I think your second version is the more viewable of the pair. Not that there is anything wrong with the first. Its just that the second is easier on the eye. Nice shot either way though. Take care & thanks for showing. Bob

That is the reason that I made the alternate shot #2. I had a feeling that some people would feel that way.

As they are presented, I prefer the second one...but... I think that the issue with the first one is not so much the angle, but the lack of space behind and above the bobcat; especially the top right corner. IF you can fix that, I am sure I will like the #1 better.

When I post process #1 I will do as you suggest, but this was to just give a look at exactly what came out of the camera.

I think the first one is more dramatic Ken.
It looks brighter and with greater detail too.
I voted for that one!
Great shots though, both of them!

Thanks for taking the time to be specific.

i like my horizons leveled. i don't feel that the slope/angle of the 1st shot added much to the composition. i like how you added the extra canvas on top. nice post processing work ken.

Even though this seems a minority view, I thought that that's what most people would be thinking. Boy, was I fooled.
