I'd do it. I'd have to charge them something extra for all the lithium batteries I'd have to go buy 'cause there's no way all my batteries would be ready to go (camera batteries yes, flash batteries fuggedaboutit) ... but I'd be all over it.
I THRIVE on time crunches and complications and problems ... it's an essential component of my day job, so I'd be all over it
That's not to say I mind having months' notice... 'cause I do

Yeah, 12-hour charging times are a bit of a hindrance to the pick-up-and-shoot thing, but I think I'd be down for a last-minute wedding, even a shotgun wedding, if only for the guaranteed good story (and the right price, of course). I think a few of us would probably get along pretty well with the type of people who book their wedding 3 days in advance, to boot.
asparkes> What are you charging that takes 12 hours? A car?
Many sets of batteries and only two chargers. I like to allow about two evenings to get all the flash (AA) batteries charged with no rush. I'm building 6v sla battery packs to use for next year. They also work great for portable radios and flashlights.
Best,
Andy
shortest notice for me was 8 days... but on the DJ side I've jumped on shows with <2 hours notice (last minute disasters from other companies). If the cash is good enough it can move mountains (or get last minute contractors)
One our couple forgot they had wedding (yes, really). Called us on 4 days notice, luckily it was not saturday so we had only low prio actions and therefor can make time because it was lot of fun.

My lowest priced package is such that that's the minimum I'm willing to work for on any given day. Just sayin'...
+1 What Inku says.
Your price is your price. Unless you cancel something of slight importance to you why not charge your regular rates for whatever they can afford to pay you.

Personal preference I guess. Alot of people have that low-end package that they put out there to get people in the door but they really don't want to sell. If I were one of those guys, I don't think I'd give them that option. I guess I have a different perspective on the issue based on what I want out of a wedding, and I don't judge anyone for having a different take. I'm pretty sure no one's going to call me at the last minute for a wedding and I'm not sure that I want that little of a relationship with the people that I'm photographing. to each their own I suppose.

I know you don't have packages, so this doesn't really apply to you... but, I always wondered why anyone would offer a package that they don't want clients to actually buy. Just doesn't make sense... what if every client booked their lowest package? That would suck! Hahah.
I understand trying to get someone "in the door" but then you have to be a sleazy car salesman to try to "up sell" each and every person that walks in the door. I personally am not comfortable doing that.
