p.3 #1 · is the 70-200mm F4 a keeper?

Absolutely love this lens. Grew up with FD zooms, and the quality of the topic lens just blows them, and me, away. As sharp as my late great 135, I swear. Can't believe this is a zoom, and color/contrast is world class. The IS is a miracle, I can shoot indoor at 1/30 all day; it's a real light vacuum to be a friggin 4 aperture. TC is no problem at all, I see no image degradation whatsoever with my Tamron 1.4 pro.
The day may come when my entire lens collection is comprised of this lens, the 85L, 17-40, and a fast 50 when Canon finally makes one that behaves properly (2.5 macro excluded, awesome lens but not very fast)

I put a lens coat on mine, makes it a little less conspicuous.
Canon knocked it out of the park with this lens, and set a pretty darn high bar.

Absolutely loved mine when I owned it.

Eventually sold it and picked up the 2.8 IS to use for sports, portraits, etc.

Would like to get the f4 IS as well today for lighter weight when traveling and hiking.

I have the IS version and is by far my favorite lens, very sharp and quick AF. Always in my bag. Much lighter then the 2.8 which is why I went the F4 route. Plan on keeping this one for a long time.

My first L lens was the 70-200 f/4 non IS. I sold it because I wanted a longer lens (100-400). The images from the 70-200 were great - better than those from other L glass that I own. I'm sorry that I sold it. I intend to buy another someday.
