With so many other 400mm offerings that have IS I think canon will just leave the 400/5.6 alone to do its stuff. Like the 200/2.8

Others have also mentioned Canon making a 500mm f/5.6L IS. I think that would be a good idea, because you wouldn't have to spend so much for the f/4, and the only other consumer 500s are f/6.3.

IS. Yeah. The lack of it gave me an extra $500 for beer. You can't buy much with premium micro-brews, but these photos boards are easier to tolerate!
