Excellent series, Binh. The rainy conditions were indeed just the thing for great, even lighting and high color saturation of these falls. I like 3 the most, followed by 1. I won't comment on the choice of shutter speeds, as everyone has their preference for that, but the processing is perfect on all of them.
thank you all ladies and gentlemen for your kind comments!
as for the shutter speed comments, this was the "fastest" shutter speed i could do and be comfortable with. most of these were already iso400 and even though i wanted an even faster shutter speed, that would push me to iso800 or higher. i probably could have done it but i'm not yet confident in my pp skills enough that i can clean it up nicely for large print purposes considering that my cameras are "old technology".
martha: yes me too!
ed: thanks yeah i really love the finger lakes - nothing like it anywhere else. we were pressed for time so we couldn't make it to those other places. maybe next fall.
stephane: thank you!
zeph: thanks. let me know when you visit watkins and if i'm free, i could drive up too.
mike: lol, i didn't think about the title until you mentioned it! lol!
doug: thank you!
bart: yeah indeed i love these locations!
keith: thank you!
craig: thanks for your detailed comments. indeed i like #3 for the same reasons. for #1 i didn't really think much about it but you have a good analysis of the light conditions.
hugh: i love taughannock falls, i got lucky this year to be able to make #2 image.
steve: a room? lol!
david: thank you! you're too easy to please.
vibhav: thank you for the detailed comments. yeah i need to work on the contrast a bit in #2 walls, just haven't figured out the right way to pp it yet.
al: thank you!
andrew: thank you!
rich: thank you, i recall we were at watkins the same day. we might have a lot of similar shots.
jarv: thank you!
scott: lol, sorry to confuse you. indeed i like each for different reasons too.
alan: yeah believe it or not #1 was the most difficult to frame. it is part of a much bigger cascades and it took me a while to single out these two.
barry: thank you!
Dpic_arctic: thank you!
dave: indeed i was so lucky with the cloudy and rainy conditions. its is particularly hard to time because fall peaks only around 1 week so the weather has to cooperate in that week.
Beautiful set here great choice of shutter speeds on these has you have left some nice detail in the flowing water #3 and 4 are my picks here just gorgeous with those dropped falls leaves all are very nicely seen.
