For those familiar with the area...... this is NOT the popular cute little tree on top of the sandstone stack that you can see from the road and park next to. It is NOT the nice little tree at the end of the trail that begins at the tunnel. You can not see it from the road. I began hiking UP from a turnout near Checkerboard Mesa and found a bunch of wonderful scenes. There's so much more than the drive through provides, and even that is still a lot.
That really inspires me to explore that area more. I have wandered around a bit, but I really haven't dedicated myself to several days of exploration. I bet there will be some very interesting shots possible up there when there is a dusting of snow as well. This tree was a great find. It really makes me wonder what else is out there. Nice work!
