I'm just curious to see the differences, if any, between the 1.2L and the 1.4 "normal at f1.4
IMHO I don't think the 1.2 worth the $1200 extra
Im going to upgrade just for the build and AF motor dependability. Dont get me wrong...the extra 1/3 of a stop is nice. But for me that is the smallest detail of the upgrade. I need a lens that doesnt feel like junk. In my opinion the 1.4 is not reliable at all...(right now it is in for its second AF motor replacement in less than 10 months!)
You have to take a lot of those reviews with a grain of salt. Most of the complaints I see there are about price. I mean, this is 1.2 glass...It IS going to be expensive. Also, I tend to only read reviews of people with more than 5 or 6 posts. If they have at least a couple hundred it means that they are not just signing on to write a bad review. I know a lot of people that have the L and LOVE it.
I am a CPS Gold member and I am requesting one for evaluation. Im sure this will help me make the decision. I am still on the fence with the L and the Sigma, but I can afford either...so it is making me want to lean towards the L. Plus....1.2...its the only AF lens for canon with a 1.2 aperture...I am just imagining it on my 5D2 @ high ISO...

Really? So you are saying that unless you shoot 1 Series...they are not reliable...
How about all the MANY high end pros that shoot on 5 series and get AMAZING results?
No doubt but the chance to get the shot without focus screen ís very low. MF is only way to get them right most the time. I am on vacation with my 5d2 and 50L, very nice combo but oof does drive me nut.
