I bought the D700 so I didn't have to worry about what ISO I use. This was shot at ISO 9600 with no noise reduction.

Cameras these days are just wonderful! It is so nice to be able to use such high ISO's and still be able to print.

Just imagine when that black silicone comes out for cameras and you can ISO 200000 and have zero noise

The football shot is too grainy to be a keeper for me. And while the cheer shots in the other thread are nice, the skin tones look unusual. msauk's image is great, but I also realize he didn't have to freeze any action.

I shoot a 20D and even 800 is sometimes questionable. If I buy a new camera at some point will the 7D be a noticeable upgrade or should I look at something used. While I am an enthusiast who sometimes uses the camera to make money I'm not ready to go with something for just sports or

I just went from a 20D to a 7D. I see a huge difference. I also did not like ISO 800 on the 20D. The tracking between the two is like night and day too. I feel more comfortable using higher ISO on the 7D. I do have some advise for you though. Do not dwell on peeping at 100%. I thought I saw more noise than what I should, but once sized correctly, it is pretty clean. And you can crop a huge amount, before you get to the size of the 20D files.
