p.3 #1 · Wireless Flash on the Cheap! RF-602

I have two questions about these units. First, ok, you can control multiple flashes. Can you have different strength for each flash? (probably a dumb question, you probably just apply + or - on each flash, right? Secondly, have you guys used it as a wireless remote? I was going to buy an RC-1 remote, but if this works just as well....

If you want a good cheap wireless remote try here
They also do the flash transmitters. Their complete ebay store is here

I don't think these devices do high speed sync. They are simple triggers and are limited by the camera body. The 5D has a sync speed of 1/200. 1 series cameras can go to 1/250. Eat a few milliseconds to ensure propagation and you are at 1/160 with a 5D. I usually don't go over 1/160 with my 5DMK2 and PW2+ units.

If you want something that does High Speed sync and ETTL you should consider the Radio Poppers PX or PW Control TL units.

Thats what i figured out, getting just a smidge curtain shadow at 1/200. 1/160 is good. Could it be interference from wi-fi in apartment building? BTW, bulb mode works good too.

Works just fine as a remote shutter release; wired or wireless. I've written up the process in the comments section below the canon version at the link below. It also works well with older flashes which will not fire on the digital bodies, such as the EOS versions released for film bodies.

I'm looking for some flash triggers too. Have any of you guys had bad luck with dealextreme? I keep on reading reviews of people receiving different receivers and not working properly. Ebay has them for $40...a bit more, but if it's safe, I'd rather get them there.
From what I've read, they work fine on a 40D, has anyone tried them?

argh... My order was "shipped" about two and a half weeks ago and I'm still waiting for it to get here. If it's not here by the end of the week I'm filing a report through ebay to try and get my money back.

Just remember, it's coming from Hong Kong. The seller makes a special note about longer shipping. Be patient, it does take a while.

Yeah, I figure that mine is on a slow boat from Hong Kong as we type and read. Just have to be patient.

They still use boats to ship mail over the pacific ocean? I figured all mail from china would be shipped by air mail, and that boats would carry other stuff...

! Why else would it take 2 1/2 weeks to get here? Unless low priority air mail is sent by carrier pigeon.

It averages about two to three weeks and I think it has more to do with clearing customs than the actual shipping process.

There wouldn't happen to be an AF assist beam on there, eh? I would really like to have a cheap way to get an AF assist beam w/o a flash.

Has anyone else received these and tested them? I would love to hear more about them as a beginner remote flash trigger. Thanks.

I'm not saying it can't be done but, I can't get it to work. I installed the flash directly to the camera and it works fine as soon as I hook it up wirelessly it doesn't work. Not sure if there is something special I have to do or not.

you should be aware that it may take months to get your order. I've ordered odd this-and-thats from DX before and in each case it took so long to receive I had forgotten I even placed the order. but I've never been burned by them. (then again, how would I know if have been ). it's cheap stuff from around the world with free shipping. so I am not complaining. I ordered two sets of these, and will probably order a few more. 1/200 Tv with no problems on a 7D and xsi/450d, for what that is worth.

*it is important to note that I am a beginning consumer level hack and that the only thing I sure of regarding photography is that it can get very expensive.

Doesn't you camera body have a focus-assist light on it?
Granted it isn't the same as the red beam from the flash, but it should help.

well, I contacted the ebay seller last-week after not receiving it and he told me that it could take up to 18 business days for it to arrive. It's now been 18 business days since it was shipped and I'm still waiting. I've filed a report through pay-pal's resolution center and am waiting for another response. Hopefully I'll be able to get my money back and buy it from someone else... What a pain...

Hey everyone, great news! I ordered mine from DX from the link posted way above and it arrived yesterday!! I just unpacked it last night and put it all together (batteries included) and triggered a flash unit a couple of times in the house and all appears to be good so far!

And the package said airmail, so no slow boat for this parcel! I did the free shipping that was offered as well.
