p.2 #1 · BXRI 500 vs WL x1600?

I am considering the same lights, I have had WL & AB and they are great but do have some lacking features.

I plan to get a BXRI500 and 250 and then their Beauty Dish and a nice big softbox. The Togo kit is nice but I dont need stands and the 26" softboxes are really too small so I will just order the pieces I need separately.

anyways curious to hear your review

I agree with you, but the manual explicitly says in bold letters not to use any cable but the supplied one, I guess it has some kind of special fuse in there so you don't blow the thing up on accident.

I'd rather not take my chances right now lol.

Elinchrom seems to like to sell their own proprietary accessories . . like non standard 7mm umbrella, etc. RX600 and D Lite uses the same power cable as any other light - standard IEC computer style cable - international standard. I'd say they are just trying to make extra income. But, then again, they may indeed have put the fuse in the cable . . . who knows. But that would be contrary to IEC rules unless they also use a different AC socket too,

Yeah that is a little bit of a disappointment, but I found out that Profoto does the same thing with their umbrella mounts. Go figure.

Though personally, if that's the only thing wrong with the lights, I'm completely fine with that. I can adapt.

... but I found out that Profoto does the same thing with their umbrella mounts. Where did you find out this bit of misinformation Not from a Profoto user that's for sure.

Here's a Profoto AcuteB head with a small (42") PCB PLM. Also note that the umbrella shaft run through the head, just like an Elinchrom.

There are not any fuses in the power cables for Elinchrom lights. The fuses are in the body of the strobe. Standard power cables will work just fine.

I've used several types of Profoto Kits myself (never an owner, but when I was in school I used the Acute and the 7B packs all the time)

I could be wrong but I recall having to use different umbrellas, maybe it's just the older packs that had a requirement for a 7mm umbrella? Not sure.
