I didn't think that the sensor was any different. I thought the sensors were the same, just that the processing in the D40 is way better... Maybe I am mistaken
Ok. cool. The reason for this is that I'm considering selling the D70S since I upgraded to FX but still see some value in using the dx as a lightweight rig. One bummer though is that the D40 doesn't have the AF mechanical coupler so I cant use the older primes (old 35mm AF worked beautifully on the D70.)
I'd be curious to know about the sensor differences, if any, between the D70s and D50. The D50 is a great bargain now, due to its small size and its status as the last small DSLR Nikon made with an autofocus motor in it.

So the D50, D80, and D90 would all have the internal focus motors then right? Am I missing something that makes the D50 more special.... Don't get me wrong, I really like my D50 but might be willing to part with it for the right price...

Its worth ~$250 these days, provided its in excellent condition with standard usage.
most of the time my D50 has a 50 1.8 on it that never leaves...small, light weight, and remarkably clean even at 1600.....It's done well and has less than 15,000 clicks on it...
