Nice explanation, Brainiac. Of course colors blend in OOF areas, what else could one expect from a perfect lens? We can see the same "color bokeh" effect in the first image of snowboarder's post just above, in the upper left corner.
Got my ZE 21 today. Due to weather conditions the pics are mostly shades of grey and the last dull autumn orange-grey. But one thing is clear: the ZE 21 is the peeperīs dream. Without too much peeping they do not depart much from my 35L. But a little zooming brings lots and lots of detail out of the smallish pixels of my 450D that I have not seen with my 35L, 50L, 85L1 or 135L. Itīs just there in the ZE21 files.
The focus confirm feels slightly odd, but seems to do well. Should work like charm when I have got used to it.
Also noted two irritating characteristics: 1. Makes the performance of my Līs slightly unsufficient. 2. The "Zeiss feel" invites to collecting of more Zeiss... Oooh... Zeiss deficiency is NOT a cheap cure for L-fever.
snowboarder, it's not that I don't trust you or the lens, but could you please send the 21 ZE to me for, say... about a year (or until I have enough $$$) to check it out, eh?
Darn it! I just get my 16-35mmII and wished that I could get this 21 ZE instead.
Thanks for sharing (and tempting ),

Don't feel bad, Sam. The 16-35 II is no slouch. But it's also not a 21 ZE either!
