Also, for anyone wondering, the pictures are gone because my flickr account was plundered by Orkut. I was forwarded a link to an entire community centered around my daughter's stolen pictures. I translated a bunch of the pages and followed links to blogs where I ran further translations, and it apperas to be a bunch of young emo females indulging in an attempt at poetic-y drama-filled nonsense. I don't mind if they spend their time navel gazing and holding each other's hands - being a female myself I have an inkling of what kind of girls these are - but they may not steal my images for their fantasies, no matter how non-threatening those fantasies may be. So I shut the whole thing down.
Keep in mind the person who sent me the link was hoping I would be so grateful to her for it that I would tell all of them they can't use my images, but that she of course could have full rights to them. I see. And since then I've been inundated with broken english emails begging me to add them on facebook or f/f them on flickr 'cause they all just love my daughter's pictures so much. Keep in mind I've never seen their name once before this, they've made no attempt to contact me or let me know they were there before this. So I'm going to have to go with 'no' on that. Actually, maybe I'll make that a 'hell no'.
As far as safety goes . . . I am quite sure the guy at the local grocery store that has done nothing wrong but makes me a little uneasy that he looks long at my daughter first & glances at me second is more of a threat than any of these overseas Orkut idiots. I don't intend to stay out of the grocery store & I don't intend to stay off the 'net. But I'm not going to make it easy for them to follow & steal my images either. I just have to figure out a plan B.
