Yes, very nice. I have the 50 'cron, and I'm really getting to like it a lot. I hope to get a 35 and also to compare the 90 with my Planar and Rokinon 85/1.4's.
In my opinion, the KPS magnifier is totally crap compared to the Nikon DK-17M. The KPS gives higher magnification, but there's lots of CA, bad sharpness, and you must have your eye exactly centered infront of the VF. I would not recommend it, especially not for FF.

Hmmm, this is strange because i have both, and i do not see any difference in sharpness between the two, and the reason i use KPS, is the slightly larger view + the KPS is brighter, so maybe they have gotten their act together and made the glass better...(i use the center focus point with split and af conf and recompose... the good old way, but it is spot on every time with this setup, even my 35 cron which i known for it's "hard to focus" abilities...)
I have a nikon FT (or FE?), if i take the screen out of that one, and file it down to match the d700 size.. would that create any problems? I just love how that old screen just _pops_ into focus, everywhere.

That should work just fine, i even used my FE screen in my 5D MKII with good results, but had to change it because it was a tad to small and would not center...(and yes the FE screen is very good)
Ulrik, that would work but I'm under the impression that the FE screen isn't large enough on the long dimension to fit properly. If the long dimension isn't big enough the latch can't hold the screen in place. I believe that I looked into that combination when I was selecting a focusing screen to modify for my D700. The other thing that might prevent the conversion from working is the screen thickness, but I think that wouldn't be a problem.
You can modify several of the Canon screens (1Ds series and 5D I believe), as well as the Nikon F6 screens to fit a D700. There may be others, but I was never able to get accurate enough size measurements for them. So far the F6-J and Canon Ec-L that I've sanded to size work great, and are about as good as each other. Both are slightly better in the matte area than the stock D700 screen. The split screen and microprism aren't accurate enough for my uses, I prefer to focus using the matte area of the screen.
If you're not using a DK-17m on your D700 I'd recommend getting one of those as well.
I highly recommend KPS for Canon crop cameras. Now I can use my Rokkor with XSi without Live View (although LV is still more reliable, but now I have the option).

How do you meter?
I used a no-name split screen once and while focus was easier than with any other screen, metering was off in almost every situation.
I found that more annoying than occasional focus bracketing. Now, the EE-S is back in my 5D.
Is your metering affected from the aperture you are using?

I use manual metering most of the time, but under stressed commercial assignments i use AV, i have no problems with this and the metering works fine (i use the Eg-S C.setting) and is not affecting the aperture i use...(the screen makes the exposure under expose by half a stop, but i just use + the same in compensation and do not even think about this anymore...)
An embarrassment of riches here. The old 180mm F2.8 Sonnar and my new 180mm F2.8 ED......
I've had the P.C version for almost a year and love it...glass and images as clear as a bell...then last week fell into the ED version off of Ebay....ED glass as clean as it's older kin...and both with silky smooth focusing barrels....shweeeeet....
