Andi Deitrich was kind enough to send me some photos from each lens. I have always viewed the Canon as legendary in its own right in terms of quality if not rarity. I have always shot Zeiss medium format (Contax) and wanted to get info before I made a decision. I am a shooter not a collector. I was very pleased to see that, wide open the EF lens gave every bit as pleasing image as the Zeiss in terms of sharpness at the focus plane and great bokeh. Obviously an incomplete comparison since there were no stopped down photos, but given the absolute no-compromise quality, combines with the convenience of a fully functioning modern lens with AF and auto aperture, looks like the EF, no contest. I can take the difference and by a Contax 35mm PC Distagon, another legendary lens for its extreme sharpness!
