I find it useful. I don't think your posts are much different than when Henry Posner from B&H posts here.

I do know that sometimes people attack you Paul and think your products are crap or whatever, and sometimes you see someone's innocent comment or question to you as a provocation when it wasn't meant that way (...remembering Shatterkisses comments on your PLM and his wanting to try them out).

I'd agree that you shouldn't be here pimping out your products, but I see no reason for you to respond when people ask questions.

I disagree about answering when questions are asked. Isn't that what forums are for? . . . or did you mean "but I see no reason for you to not respond when people ask questions?"

I apologized to Shatterkiss a long time ago because I realized I misjudged his statements.

Very well said, and you share the same opinion as me.

I am not much of a contributor either, but I do frequent these forums to gain useful information as well. I am smart enough to realize what is blatant self promotion and what is not, and I don't need anyone to filter what I read. If I saw Paul's posts as being self-serving, then I would just ignore them. Unfortunately that is not the case, and I hope that he stays. I see Paul's posts as being informative and nothing else.

Unfortunately the attacks and all the BS is the nature of the beast when it comes to Internet forums. Too many clashing personalities I guess. I learned to ignore those posts and move on. It would be nice if it would stop, but I know it never will.

I come here for information. The more information I absorb and the more I learn, the better I become. If I see something I like, I want to know how it was done. That's why I'm here, and I think that's why most of us are.

I don't see your participation in this forum as objective solicitation, nor as any sort of clever marketing or PR ploy to sculpt the minds of the amateurs that dominate this community. Your participation here is exactly what I appreciate from a company; quick, legitimate answers that are available

Paul, you are correct. I mis-spoke. I should've said:

"I see no reason for you to not respond when people ask questions?"

I do appreciate your responses to this forum when asked.

Paul's information has helped me understand lighting and the theory behind it. I truly hope he continues to post. I do not know of another owner/manufacturer that goes to the extent that he does to answer questions personally. Thanks Paul!

I'm assuming there was a typo / missing word there and you meant to say:
"I see no reason for you NOT to respond..."

EDIT: Never mind I see you answered that two postings above mine

One point that has always guided me . . . In my marketing (I don't really have a marketing director) I take the stance of being a customer - never as a salesman. We have no salesmen, sales manager or sales department and I refuse to tell a potential customer "You should buy this or that" or "This is what you need".

Instead, I try to put out as much info as possible regarding what we make and what it does, and leave it to the customer to decide whether or not they want to buy our product. Our phone people are customer service people. They are paid well and receive no commissions and they know full well their job is not to "sell stuff", rather it is to answer customer questions and to explain our products and make suggestions if they are asked, and to help customers if they have problems.

I am a proud of what I do and of our people and of the feedback we get from our customers . . . it's as simple as that. Along with that pride comes what some perceive as ego or arrogance and a willingness to stand up and fight for what I believe in. If this is wrong, I plead guilty.

I've always appreciated the efforts of people like Paul and Henry Posner, they take customer service a step ahead.

What I don't agree with are the pot stirring troublemakers that dilute an otherwise pleasant and informative experience.

Paul:

What is the status of the PLM? I am pretty sure I read here that the company is making some minor adjustments and would be shipping again in the spring. Interested in the 86".

Thanks,

Jeff

We are making major improvements that include on-axis speedring mount for Buff and Elinchrom lights, and even higher output and focusability, as well as improved evenness across the face of front diffuser when used, adjustable 7mm shaft length when used without speedring. Balancing all these requirements and controlling fabric sewing accuracy and quality from China is exceedingly difficult. We will be filing patents on this design. Should know more about time projections next week.

Hi Paul,

any news on the 7mm PLM by any chance? Tried one at a friend's place and loved it so I'm hoping to get some for my Eli lights as soon as possible.

Cheers and keep up the great work,
Dennis

Hopefully final samples are due in about a week. I have 100s of personal design hours in trying to get V2 as good as it possibly can be.
