That's all well and good, but that's not what he's getting. He's getting posterization, not banding. And his question has already been answered, thoroughly and with a wealth of detail. Elan was simply going even further, above and beyond the call of duty, with a C&C of the image that we could all learn from.
But I'm sure you'll figure that out when you actually read through the thread instead of just the first and last posts.
Buddy that's just how sensitive your d3 is, its not so much as banding as it is picking up the slightest colour change on a light coloured ceiling.
Funny but before Nikon became so good we never had problems like this.
