p.9 #1 · JOIN in a 3 WAY LINKing for better search engine optimization?

I've been told by some and read (see the link) that google is suppose to be able to read the flash sites but I've look for back links and cant see my website's link to another site while using one of group 3 website.

As far as techniques, I don't know?

I have a flash site, so by default, it's not as great as pure html. But I did put a link from my main page to the photographers in my group. Are you suggesting that because a site is flash, it should be disallowed, or is there a technique that can be used to improve search engine bots?

well, I'm willing to give this a try.

I'm in Billings, Montana.

My main site is flash so probs not going to get anywhere with Google (I'm on page 16!), but I have a wordpress blog that should be able to get some interest due to the html ness of it. There is a link from the blog to my flash page and back again which might also help.

If anybody can offer me tips about SEO then I would be tremendously grateful, it is sadly an area I know nothing about. I have put in keywords on my flash pages like 'Billings photographer' or 'montana wedding photographer' and similar but I'm not even sure if that's going to do anything.

TezM my recommendation would be to create the link page on your blog and then you can have others link to either your blog or your main site, whichever you would prefer. As long as the link is coming from the blog/html is all we care about.

Everyone will eventually be added. Please wait until I figure a better way for everyone to benefit from this.

It may end up that we will have to use a non-flash site for our linking. Also, best not to name link page "link" or "link page". Best to use "resources" or something other than "link". I will let you know as soon as I find out more.

Thanks,

mike

You got some good replies/info at DWF. Any conclusions or ideas?

Alex's (on DWF) reply did answer my questions. Splash sites my not be the best for linking. Page links ending in php is not a problem. He said it takes a quarter to see the backlinks.

I still did not hear from lisy.

I'll wait to see if there are more replies. I am open to other suggestions?

According to a well respected DWF, it takes time for google to crawl the pages. It does not matter where the page - one click or two from the the main site. It just take awhile for google to crawl it.

This fellow suggested that we send xml sitemap to google webmaster tools if you have it already. if not, sign up and point google where your sitemap is located for faster crawl of your site.

For any participants who have the links on flash website to put it up on your html websites and not flash website. Once you've done that, send me the new link.

Thanks,

Mike

Jed - email me the info.

Sorry folks, but I'm still behind with other works but I promise that I will get this going soon.

What I am trying to do is to link within a group without linking to your competition. So, I have to dig and find out where someone lives and who owns which website, etc. So it's dull work and it is taking awhile to do it.

Furthermore, I'm behind with a couple of albums - Photography is not my full time job. Family responsibility, etc must come first so, more delay. I appreciate everyone's patience.

Thank You,

Mike

Well this started off with a bang and kinda fizzled out, huh? I don't blame Mike ben though - this was a herculean management/organizational task for one person to take on. But to be frank, I think my participating actually hurt my seo as my page rank went down after I got this set up. Was google able to see this for what it was? I don't know enough about how this works to know for sure. But I'm pretty sure participating in this 3-way linking had a negative effect on my seo. After I removed the link page my seo improved dramatically. Anyone else have this experience?

While working on my own sites ranking I read on googles webmaster help pages that the googlebot can detect web linking schemes. This might be the reason its lowered your ranking.

My apologies to all for being very late.

Two things:

ONE

I got really busy in the last two months running this business and my other full time job. If someone is willing to continue, I'd give you the informations. Let me know. Otherwise, I will eventually get to it.

Two:
People in the SEO industry argue about what Evan have read. Does it really hurt your ranking? To be honest, I don't think so. As long you keep the links relevant to your site. Photographers linking to each others are relevant links. However, if you link to non-relevant sites (nothing related to photography), then it will hurt your ranking over time.

Also, if you have a higher SEO rank linking to lower rank sites, you'll loose some ranking there somehow (don't know how exactly).

There are other ways that your site may have lost it's ranking other than linking. What have you done differently that may have changed it ranking other than linking here?

For instance, I added a static landing page to one of my site, come to find out, my ranking went to okay to worse. I changed it and several weeks after the change, it went to okay status.
