I was thinking about reflection from the aperture mechanism inside the lens, not from the bayonet. I've observed this problem very often so I always tried to narrow down the gap as close as the original spec as as could.

There could be a gap between the M42-EOS bayonets I use, depending on the size of the rear element. Light won't come out of the gap, as there is no opening to the outside world from the lens body. There could be light reflecting back onto the back of the bayonets I use and then reflect back toward the sensor. I have painted this part flat black on some lenses, but have to pass that issue on to the user. Industrial Sharpies work very well for this.
So now I have picked up my 1.7/50 Planar, removed the rubber (which was easy just using finger nails) and loosened these 3 screws. But I can not move anything for that...Isn't it the part that holds the distance scale which should move against the part which holds the reference mark and the DOF scale?
Furthermore: I discovered that my 2.8/35 Distagon and 2.8/85 Sonnar do not focus on infinity either! Using CameraQuest adapters, which are supposed to be (amongst) the best! Are there any others which are thinner? The 1.7/50 Planar is known to cause problems, but the others should work without modification ??
CZ 1,7/50 is probably my "fifty of choice" in any situation apart from close ups.I noticed that I pick it up more often than my 50/1,4 ZE,50/2 MP ZF,50/1.4C/Y,Yashica 55/2.8 macro and Oly 50/3,5 macro because I know that this small, lightweight and solid midget will always render superb quality images.
