Al,
We met at Lock & Dam 14 early this year. I like the way your site is designed. I'm surprised that you don't have the galleries set up to sell prints though. If someone wants something, do they just contact you? I've never sold a wildlife print, but I thought maybe you might... just curious. Nice job either way.
Troy...
Anything your site lacks in creativity or design, you MORE than make up for in photographic excellence. I dug around a little bit and loved all the bird shots, and was saddened to see the fallen eagles. Nice work on the photography...and great start on the site!
I recently re-worked my SmugMug site. There are still a few things to take care of and I want to restructure the galleries, but overall, I'm happy with it.
I'm about 95% finished with the customization and tweaking, now I'm just cherry picking images to fill out some of the galleries.
I intentionally left my site in simple quick html mode with the option for viewers to display my images using the flash based slide-show.
Since most of the annoying, blinking, distracting "look at me...look at me" advertisements on commercial websites are flash based I generally have flash disabled in my browser. Since it's a bit bothersome to have to re-enable it to view a website some of the sites with fancy flash based effects are lost on me and I can't be the only one who disables flash to have a more pleasant simplified web browsing experience.
BTW, I've seen some pretty slick sites posted here.
I've been working on my smugmug site for a couple of years now and it's gone through a few iterations...
It's one of the more customised sites I have seen - and while I used bigwebguys site as inspiration for the initial design, most of the customisation has been done by myself (but using the amazing resources at dgrin.org for advice and features like the recent galleries hack) with a lot of trial and error.
The site is at: http://www.nzsnaps.com and I'd welcome any c&c... I know it's quite a busy page, but it is mostly event photography and while I know less is often more - I can't bring myself to take anything away :-)
