The upper left corner looks badly blurred in that shot. What's up with that?

Maybe an adapter issue? Get a Zeiss 28/2.8 and you will not look back.

i got both as well and do prefer the zeiss overall but the nikkor is a fine lens itself, specially the close focusing that it has. thats the one thing that has stopped me from selling it before. unfortunately, ill have to let it go since i been buying too much stuff

E series 28mm is a bit different from the others - that much I remember when I was looking into buying one myself. Thought to be not as good, correct me if I am wrong though.

That's not completely correct.

If yu look at the 16:9 test, yes the Zeiss has better 3D. However, that test was done with a fairly close subject.

Look at the great test recently posted by Trumpet Guy. Check out any of the pairings at f/5.6 or greater, and zoom-in on the roof tops. The Nikon has significantly better 3D at far distances. Strange, but true.

The Zeiss is still slightly (SLIGHTLY) sharper, (or is that more contrast?) but not enough to be significant.

Also, the Zeiss is a pig as far as vignetting..

Vignetting can actually be a bonus if you use the lens for portrait work. On an crop format DSLR a 28mm lens becomes a 44-48mm lens, close to a normal 50mm and therefore long enough for portrait work.

But there goes your vignetting on a crop sensor.

The 28E is not even worth looking at. It's junk.
