Very dimensional feel, Nancy. Perfect dof to keep all in focus. The natural framing is icing the cake! PS.Even the frame has shadows, big wow on that subtlety. Mike
Thanks, Marj. I found the design in some decorative grating outside our local PetSmart store, so I think I'll have to give some credit to Nicole, my dog.
Mike, Thanks. I had a hard time deciding how much, if any, to crop the natural frame, but opted to shave just a little off one edge because there was a big white blotch (bird dropping?) on the left side. Glad to know that I left enough so you can see the shadows there.
\Vi*tru"vi*an\, a. Of or pertaining to Vitruvius, an ancient Roman architect.
Vitruvian scroll (Arch.), a name given to a peculiar pattern of scrollwork, consisting of convolved undulations. It is used in classical architecture. --Oxf. Gloss.
Marcus Vitruvius Pollio (sp?) was a Roman architect and writer around the time of Christ I believe. He's considered by many to be the first engineer or architect, and he wrote a large treatise on architectural theory that was the source of inspiration for da Vinci's 'Vitruvian Man' drawing, which is what I thought of when I saw the form.
Sitting here on my modem I always get to read the messages and then see the photo -- with all the 'vitruvian' talk I was waiting with anticipation. Shadows, shapes and lines. Nice shot.
What an excellent shot Nancy. Wonderful geometric shapes and their duplication in the shadows is perfect. Well, shot, composed and framed.
Good work!
