Was gone for about 9 days down in San Mateo, CA where I had some nice Pelican etc ops which I posted a few day ago. Have more but wanted to update the neighborhood young BE. He/she made progress from just flapping around the nest to now flying up to a branch above the nest. Was at the nest ~2hr yesterday and no sign of real flight although one of the adults passed by a couple times, I guess taunting or should I say encouraging the youngin to fly!!
First a shot of one parent and the young eagle for comparison. then some evidence of progress. And finally a shot for Ant!!
Mike that first flight for them is surely a leap of faith I can't believe how big they are! #6 is such a cool pose, love the look on that one #7, well good thing you weren't under the tree looking up

Actually, underneath the nest may have been safe. When younger the little guy always pooped off the edge of the nest. This time the "teenager" did it right into the nest!

Once again Mike, great series.
The chick in our nest has actually flown across the river a few times to feast on Great Blue Heron with a adult.
