You know, there is something really magical to me about the first shot of the pair of Collared Aracari -- lovely BGs, great colors -- just a little more separation between the birds and that one would just knock my socks off.
Love the green-black tree frog!!
Another great set -- you had a terrific trip!

An exceptional set Ed. I love the stare from the iguana, and the last croc shot rocks ~ Ron
I appreciate the kind words Ron. The croc sequence was quite amazing to experience. That's a whole lot of animal and when they move, they move so fast!

Thanks Sue. You're a veteran of these offshore travels. Do you find your heart pounding like crazy when you witness some of this stuff through your lens? It sure gets my blood moving!
As for the Aracari shot, that was a very misty afternoon, like so many in Costa Rica while we were there. The place where I shot these images felt sort of magical at that time. A short distance away (but too far to capture well) I saw a Lineated Woodpecker, a pair of parakeets, a Great Kiskadee, and another Keel-billed Toucan. It was sometimes hard to know where to point the camera!
Very excellent images. Costa Rica can be a photographer's paradise. The detail in these images is very impressive. I particularly like the Collared Aracari. Those beaks are almost un-real. They must eat pretty hard shelled nuts or something.
You must have and quite a heavy camera bag with you. 500mm, 300mm, 100mm and a good tripod to be using that 500 with a 1.4 TC on it. Was this a photography tour or a self-guided trip?
Congrats on the great images. Excellent post series. Keep'em coming.
And thanks for including the Exif info.
