OK- bit of a story, but basically a SUPER feedback for Sam Lin.
about 6 months ago (i think), i got a 1D from Sam. When i got it, i loved it.... great camera, he was really cool to deal with. Well- i had the camera like 3 months, and hadn't mounted a QR plate to it yet (or anything in the tripod socket)... so upon leaving Japan, arriving in TX, i went to mount my awaiting B57L on it. Well, the threads were either in bad shape, or pretty much already gone, so they fully stripped out...
I contacted sam and he researched what needed to be done to swap in a new socket. He told me either i could probably order the needed parts and do it myself for like $50 bucks or something... or i could send it in to Canon to get fixed (and he'd pay).
Well, i was in the process of moving (Japan-South Carolina, i'm in the Air Force), and spending my first Thanksgiving with the family in 2 years, so i didn't want to send it off right away. He was cool with that, and told me to just send it off whenever- Cool!
So finally i sent it off, and lets just say that Canon's service (NJ facility) wasn't as good as Sam's. They didn't enter it into the online system until i had not only sent several emails inquiring on it, but i had to call them.... this was at least a week after they recieved it. So they finally diagnosed it, and i contacted Sam again... and he took care of it for me. Cool.
