I was assigned to shoot Sundance this year, and my backup body Canon 1D died. I would have had to buy another or rent one (for over $1000 for 10 days) in order to shoot it up to my standard.
Pete informed me that he had a 1D for sale...but then said that he would loan it to me for only the cost of shipping overnight! This from a fellow FMer who had never met me. He looked at my website, we spoke on the phone, and he shipped it that night.
The camera arrived the next morning, was on the way with me to Utah the next day, and spent the week shooting celebrities and filmmakers. It performed flawlessly, and saved me a lot of heartache and angst.
I am now shipping it back to him.
People like Pete Ragan are the reason this forum is invaluable to serious photographers such as me. I have bought and sold all my gear on this forum, with great transactions each time. And I will continue to do so.
