If mount the 35mm F/1.8 on a FX body......
Result 35mm --> 52mm.

Sam, Taylor, anyone else with this lens and a FX camera, can we see more photos with this lens on FX please? Brick walls are beneath FM'ers. Really.

Maurice - I'm just going to keep posting to other threads. The only reason I posted the brickwall to this thread is to counter the ridiculous premise.

shooting with this lens on a d700/d3, you can only get 6mp resolution correct?

Not if you turn off "Auto DX Crop" in the "Image Area" section. The samples provided here are with the 35/1.8 in FX mode. The caveat is vignetting, a bit of softness in the corners.

You can 'override' the DX crop mode and use it as you would use an FX lens, with vignetting.

is this with a hood or without? does the hood add to the Vig. on FX?

All of my tests have been done with the hood on, since I always use hoods. I haven't tested to see if it makes a difference, but looking through the viewfinder with the hood on or off does not seem to make a difference. The 35G's hood is quite small - maybe not quite an inch deep and no scalloping.

Simply, the easiest way for me to "see" the vignetting. Effectively done.

When I see brick walls with 100% crops done with lenses with huge field curvature and focusing issue tendencies is when I look the other way.

The hood doesn't vignette on FX.

I'm new to Nikon dslr. Is the override a simple procedure? (Have D700)
Thanks.

Never mind - apparently it's a menu item.

Yes, its fairly simple but hard to find. Its in the shooting menu, under Image Area. Disable automatically switching to DX when a DX lens is mounted and set the default frame as FX.

Thanks. I did find it in the menus. Have to try it tomorrow with the 35.

This is a rather strange thread. Why would anyone buy this as a sub standard FX lens with the perfectly good f2 available (which I have for DX )

What I find amusing is that you constantly hear all the whining about how HORRIBLE the 70-200 is on FX because of the DISASTROUS corner performance - but this one is wonderfull on FF

I think i expect a lens that sells for over 2K now to perform better than one costing 1/10th the price. Wouldn't you?
