Over the last couple of weeks I've been playing in the macro realm and have decided that I'm just not that interested in tiny bugs and such. I think I'll stick with the bigger critters and the following are test shots experimenting with the 70-200 MKII with tubes and/or a 1.4X TC on a 7D. So far the combination seems to be pretty flexible and the 7D gives it a little extra "reach." Not thrilled with the noise levels on the 7D at 400 but they are manageable. Here's some samples. I have a ways to go yet as these were the first butterflies of the year and I have yet to find the groove. ...Show more →
ah, that explains your absence in this thread lately. Great shots as usual, I especially like the last one, your style.
Thanks Jim,
The top one was 2.8 & the bottom one was 5.6. Both with the EF 12 tube. Foggy overcast day made for some great light! I recently sold my 100macro and wanted to see how the extension tubes would work - I'm happy.
An oddball from me... This was a "happy little accident" that I got while holding my camera out way in front of me, balancing over water. I managed to focus exactly through the two flowers and on the one behind them, and get it perfectly centered.
Fabulous images as usual!
Jamach - great black and white and I like your creative post-processing.
RH - Beautiful butterfly shots - I love #3 and 4.
Hrow - beautiful colors and selective focus.
Nice frame within frame shot, TweakMDS.
RH, great shot of the butterflies. Now that's where all the butterflies went to. I can't seem to find one in my area.
Joe, nice sketch of the flower with the pencil.
Andy, wow, love your second image.
