Wow, CP, the HIH (hummer in hover) at the bird of paradise flower is a tour de force when it comes to capture and clarity.
This glowing flower is my favourite though......darkly splendid colours and unusual vertical composition that works on my eye.
Thanks, Peter. It was rather unexpected as the hummer flew past me and hovered at the bird of paradise, just right after I have taken the "beam me up, scotty" shot. My immediate reaction was to pull up the camera and started shooting, alas, I saw the weakness in the 5D. I had only about 3 shots before the hummer flew away. Nevertheless, out of the 3 shots, the one shown is the best of the lot. It was quite fun though. Now I know the thrill you guys have when shooting the duck/bird/goose/bat?-in-flight, even though, for me it was a very brief moment.
Peter, I don't see your images on the last 3 or 4 pages (that's as far back as I've looked); just something like this:
"Edited on Nov 08, 2009 at 09:31 PM · View previous versions"
in a box. Any idea why that would be? I don't remember encountering this phenomenon before...
(I've been incommunicado for a couple weeks - retired and moved from California to Virginia. I'm using a new ISP now; I don't know if that is exerting any influence... but I see others' images, so I'd think not.)

Quite interesting. I often find that flowers that I photograph, many people wonder why I did.
Yup, I thought they would make an interesting subject if I can isolate them as the main subject in the image. Looks like it turned out well ... in my eyes that is.
