I just have no money for that lens...
Great shots!
Ha ha. I was able to get one because of excellent staff discount.
Yeah with the new 1.2m mfd, and the sharpness wide open, this lens is superb for flower type portraits and quasi close-ups. Also tried it with a 500D (dioptre not camera) and that works very well too.
First one I shot in our little backyard pond here in Las Vegas. Trying out my new to me 200/2/8 L. The second is a shot I took in Pennsylvania with my 50/1.2 L handheld.
These two are recent ones I did. They are of a flower arrangement sent to me by my work to congratulate us on our newly adopted daughter. I don't know if photbucket blows out the exif or not, so just in case both of these were taken with my 5D and 28-70L. F4.5.
I like the first one b/c I've done a pretty good job of recreating a 'beam of sunlight' effect with my flash. It is set up camera right, i think at 1/16th power, zoomed in to 105mm. This positioning has brought out some of the texture of the leaves.
This second one is just to show how dark it was in the room when taken. It was after 9pm, the sun long set, and only one small lamp was on in the room so I could see what I was doing to set up. Check out the background for an idea of ambient levels. Flash is turning out to be quite fun!
Thanks pj, was really just a quick grab shot as I was passing. I love the bokeh of the 70-200 mk II and take great delight in trying to get nice backgrounds.
I wish everyone would label their flowers for those of us who are floriculturally challenged. (Never mind that I posted one that I have no idea about.)
