I would add a Sigma 30 or EF 35/2 for available light shots, otherwise the 50 is a great portrait length on crop.
Yup, a bounce flash is almost needed as well.

keep you 50mm F/1.8 as it is an excellent lens for portraits.
I notice that you don't have any longer telephoto zooms or any wide angle zooms.
save up some money and get any one of the 70-200L lenses (or the older 80-200L) and one of the wide zooms like the 10-22 or one of it's third party equivalents...
My vote is for the 50mm f2.5 macro. One of the sharpest lenses I own and great for the detail shots of fingers/toes, etc. Plus it's a nice portrait length for a crop sensor camera. Only issue might be focus speed. It's a dog in that category.
