I just took delivery of a 3442 and it's going back. btw Kerry at reallybigcameras is awesome and I wouldn't hesitate to purchase from him but the product just isn't what I am used to with Gitzo.
The locking mechanism and build quality are not there and I don't see myself using this in 5-10 years.
When I started this post I was having a hard time making the decision on which one of these tripods to purchase. After doing an absurd amount of research I decided to go with the Gitzo GT2540. I kept getting the impression that because the Feisol was cheaper that it was acceptable to expect it to be something less then a Gitzo. Although Feisol would like us to believe that there's are as good or better. I like to think you do get what you pay for and I don't want to make this purchase again. I've ordered the Gitzo and will order a Markins M10 this week and I won't look back and think, Wow I could have saved $300.
Good choice. If you decide to sell it later, you'll get a more rapid response from buyers. So figure it's a good investment for happy use that maintains value.

Very true. Seems to me that Gitzo's and L lenses do retain much of there original value.
