Well ... you asked for opinions did you Joe? I smiled when I first saw this. I thought, yes I did, that you posted this tongue in cheek? Some kind of wry dig at, against, technical and artistic sensibilities.
But now I have the horrid sense that the picture was serious. Say it isn't so!
I think ... and this is my honest first impression ... that it shows several things about the person who posted it. (if we be serious that is) One ... never passed art appreciation, nor aesthetic class. Two ... mistakenly used one of these new grain enhancement filters twice over - and put the company out of business after people saw the results. Or did you find a new way to enable iso 128,000 on a D2H?
Hmmmm. Now I know you will take this in the tongue and cheek way attitude as intended ... exactly as I'm you must be posting the picture in. Ahhh, that Joe. Must be having fun on a slow day. Brilliant. ...Show more →

Overall it's in the next morning excrement category after a hot vindaloo but I particularly enjoyed the hamster getting ready to piss on the twig with the blue flower and the little pixie on the top left.
On a serious note, the bison on itself would look pretty good in B&W and a heavy vignette.
No offence meant, you've got some really nice stuff on your site but why you think this should in any way be associated with you I do not know.
Thanks Panos, actually it is a squirrel and not a hamster, but I appreciate ypur visit and comment
Not a fan of the picture. It all begins with the picture, which is centered making it static. The manipulation looks over cooked. There is no thematic value in the items added. It fails as art or whimsy in my opinion.

again with the personal attacks joe... not necessary.... no body else is....
I can tollerate your photos, every one has the right to post photos, and request feedback...like you have.... so long as they are prepared for the feedback.... I have certainly got feedback that I didn;'t feel great about... but I never lashed out at any one because of it... this vengeful attitude is something that does not belong here.... that's all there is to it...
Heck Joe ... I didn't even think of the point that robson has raised ... I took it for granted. If you weren't one of the lifers here ... we would all likely say - with our best fake smiley " ummm .... nice ... err yeah." and then "so ... ummm d'you shoot that with your new canon? "

No No No, it's JD fanboy, as in Jack Daniels
I think J made a good point I happen to agree with. He and I don't always agree and I'm my own free thinker ... anyone who reads my threads knows that.
You are a talented photographer but every so often you post things that puzzle people ... this shot is a puzzler to say the least.
On it's own, your image would be a tough sell, I think, to most people. It doesn't really sing to me. However, with the proper context, it could provide some utility.
John's suggestion that it would work well as an album cover is great. Given the trend of releasing new albums with old material (e.g., iTunes), your image might work for a Buffalo Springfield cover. Or how about an alternative cover for the new FranK Zappa album called Buffalo? However, the current image showing a Bison running down a street is better.
Your image might also find some utility in a review of a scientific journal article on the impact of grazing on native grasslands. Example titles might include the following:
"Grazing, Wildlife, and Biodiversty -- a Midwest Perspective"
"Modulation of Diversity by Grazing and Mowing in a Native Tallgrass Prairie"
"Large Ungulate Ammonia Volatilization from a Seasonally and Spatially Variable Grazed Grassland: Yellowstone NP "

EDIT: I just noticed Art's B.S. reference. See, you were thinking about this great band while making the image.

Thanks much James, I appreciate your input

wow that thing would make a great needlepoint pattern for a BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD swag bag. Woah! Trippy! Maybe like 4 decades too late tho.
WOW, another great suggestion for the picture! Thanks much!
I was thinking at the time of adding a tree, clouds, and a tractor

Joe I was looking through your website. You should work on less photoshop work and more on capturing a good image and learning the basics of photoshop all over. I feel most of the images are way over-photoshopped and you need to pursue development in realistic editing and processing. I have noticed this in your pictures for awhile and I didn't want to say anything but this thread is getting hot and I thought I would throw in my towel again. I think this would help the most with anything. Now if you were serious about how you got to your images with that kind of processing and really showed it was on purpose and thoughtful I would completely understand but it doesn't seem thats the case here. I hope this helps you in your photography and you will become better from it. You can take it or leave it.

Chris, thanks for your input but perhaps you should take some notes. I do have print sales and learn every day. It sounds like you like snapshots. Thanks gain for your advice but it only lets me know not everyone likes non snapshot pictures.
